Belgian filmmaker Werner Haegeman spent several weeks in Villefranche in the summer of 2025, recording the daily operations of the Festival Opéra Bastide, following several of the singers as they prepared for their roles in performances of Bizet's Carmen.
The world premiere screening of the complete documentary was presented in Villefranche on Thursday 9 July 2026, with the filmmaker in attendance.
